After a very mild winter last year, I was pleasantly
surprised to wake up to a few inches of snow on the ground the Thursday before
Christmas. Mom even ended up
having a snow day, so we got to enjoy an extra family day together. We baked lots of goodies for Christmas
gifts for friends, ran a few errands once the roads were clear, and spent a bit
of time tumbling around in the snow.
Mom showed me how to layer clothes to keep warm. (I had leggings, jeans and snow pants on
bottom, and a t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, and coat on top. I also wore two pairs of socks with my
boots. I felt like a marshmallow,
but I was warm!) Since it had been
awhile since I’d experienced snow, I wasn’t really sure how to play in it. I really liked helping Dad shovel the
driveway, and I enjoyed running around in the yard. At one point, I stopped and asked Mom if I could sit in
it. She said yes, so I tried that
out. Then I asked if I could lay
in it. I was surprised to get a
nod. I immediately plopped myself
backwards in the snow and thought it was the coolest thing ever. We attempted a snow angel, and then Dad
taught me how to eat snow, as long as it’s not dirty or yellow. ;) I had so much fun, that I really hope we get another snow
day before the winter is over!
Maybe next time we’ll build a snowman!
Stay warm!
